No, women are far from equal in any sense of the meaning of the word. Great strides have been made in Western countries in the 18th,19th and 20th centuries but overall women are still the most oppressed and persecuted identifiable group in human history. Oppression based on being female -sexism is far more prevalent and insidious than racism in the world, including in Western societies but much worse in the rest of the world.
